DIY CNC Desktop 5070

 Build DIY CNC Desktop 5070

First of all, we will define the step by step to build a Desktop CNC machine :

  1. Define the Purpose of use
  2. Define the Working area
  3. Define the power of Spindle
  4. Define the Axis movement (Table moving or gantry moving)

The Concept of CNC Router 5070 :

  • Define the Purpose of use

Our machine will be used for cutting the electric guitar body, so we must know the dimension of electric guitar body.

  •  Define the Working area
For Example, Telecaster Guitar Body Dimension :
Length = 405,384 mm,
Width = 324.053 mm,
Thick = 44.45mm

The material blank size : 450x350x45 mm

The minimal size of working area of our machine must be :

X = 600
Y = 400
Z = 100

And we plan our Working Area : 500 x 700 x 100 mm

  • Define the power of Spindle

For cutting wood we will use : 800 watt 24000 Rpm Spindle with 1.5 kW VFD inverter

  •  Define the Axis movement (Table moving or gantry moving)
We choose the table moving for X axis, and gantry moving for Y axis, for the maximal perfomance of our DIY CNC 5070.

Preparation :

  1. Make the assembly drawing and workshop drawing
  2. Make the electrical drawing
  3. Prepare the partlist
  •  Make the assembly drawing and workshop drawing

Assembly contains the instalation of :
1. Frame
2. Gantry
3. Bed Frame
4. Juction
5. Spindle
6. Cover

  • Make the electrical drawing

Electrical Drawing refer to : Electrical drawings

  • Prepare the partlist

Build mechanical part at the workshop

  1. Prepare the material refer to the drawing
  2. Cutting Material
  3. Machining and welding refer to the drawing
  4. Assembling
  5. Painting
  • Prepare the material refer to the drawing
These are some of part refer to the part list :
